I love this! I wonder if they would ever consider making it into a tshirt… I often wear shirts that are various Childrens books or literacy-related to work (yes, teacher here!), and this print would be amazing!
Nana in Last Stop on Market Street has always reminded me of the Ursula Nordstrom quote “I am a former child, and I haven’t forgotten a thing.” Seeing the beauty and majesty in what other people might consider the mundane or even the undesirable things in the world is itself an act of resistance and it is also such a childish (in the best and truest sense of the word) thing to do. Thank you for your art. It has made and continues to make such an impact on your readers, both the children AND the adults.
So many things I love about this - would love to put it on the wall that is behind me on all my zoom meetings!! 🤞🏼 for the giveaway, but thanks for making it available in other ways as well!!
"Book bans feel disrespectful to young readers — it sends the message that adults do not respect the intellectual capacity of children. As if young people are not already aware on some level of what's going on in their families, in their schools, and in their communities. I believe we do young people a disservice when we don’t give them tools to process and make sense of their world. I think what needs to get more attention and focus is the librarians and educators who are risking their livelihoods to make sure books get into the hands of children, and ensuring that schools are safe and welcoming places for all." -Christian Robinson
You've summed up the implications of book bans on children in a beautifully jarring way. I am so grateful we have you here with us in this life, Christian. Thank you.
I so enjoyed meeting you and listening to you read You Matter at The Rabbit Hole in KC this month! My students can’t believe the real you signed a book for them. Thank you for sharing your art with us!
As form of my own resistance, I opened a bookshop just for kids. I am able to curate and present books to kids and hear all about what they love to read. I also work with kids and you are very correct when you say kids know what’s happening around them.
Banning books is a disservice to children and will likely cause children to seek out access to these books because one of the great things about kids- they are open and curious.
This is so cool! What is your bookshop called/where is it? I’ve been trying to buy more books from independent children’s bookstores and would love to support your shop if I can! If you’re far away and have an online shop, I’d be happy to order from you!
A beautiful and very powerful message. Thank you, Christian, for sharing your work and process with us all. I would be honored to have this print as an every day reminder that “Reading Is Resistance” 📚

Thank you for your words and art!
I love the Maya Lin quote you included here
“In order to fly, you need resistance.”
I adore it, sentiment and design all. And seeing how it was made from concept to finished print – amazing!

I agree. I need this on a shirt asap!
Now I feel is more important than ever to resist unvice currents in society and navigate in direction of meaning and human empathy. Love the print
